Generally speaking, the welding positioner is used to assist in turning workpiece to a required position for easier operation. In other words, the workpiece is clamped on a device for welding by a positioner, and the initial position to be welded can be in any direction of the space. After weldment, the welding seam in any direction could become fillet weld or flat weld. In order to ensure the welding quality, vertical welding and bottom welding must be carried out, so the application of weding positioner improves the welding productivity and safety in the production process.
Welding positioner is a general and efficient welding equipment as prior choice by fabrication companes to realize circumferential seam welding. It can be equipped with welding power supplies such as argon arc welding machine, gas shielded welding machine and plasma welding machine, and set synchronized operation with other machines to form an automatic welding system.
L-type welding positioner is one of models of welding positioner. It is mainly composed of rotating head, displacement mechanism and controller. The rotation speed of the rotating head is adjustable, with an independent speed regulating circuit, the inclination angle can be adjusted as needed, and then the welding gun can move up and down with the air.
As shown on the figure below, the rotary table of L-type positioner is installed at one end of the extension arm. The extension arm generally rotates at an angle relative to a tilt axis. Therefore, the position of the tilt axis is mostly fixed, but some can tilt up and down within the range of less than 100 degrees. The displacement range of the machine is large, but the overall stability is worse than that of the positioner turntable. Therefore, the scope of application is to transform position of small and medium-sized workpieces below 1 ton. Among them, it is widely used in the manual welding, mostly driven by motor, and the bearing capacity is less than 500kg.
